Looking Up

"Things are looking up, oh finally...
I thought I'd never see the day when you'd smile at me."

No, no. I'm not definitely not lovestruck (I got a brochure from a short talk given by a nun. Maybe I do have a calling.) But I seem to be in good terms with the Fates right now, since it's finally (and ultimately) September, which means the annual Pisay Humanities Celebration and Christmas are a few angsty days-slash-months away.

Why am I excited for Huma when I normally deviate from preppy school activities? (kidding. I guess I'm pretty active...)

Two words, fans of comical Pinoy literature:

JESSICA ZAFRA.

Si natatanging-idol.

Hell, yeah.

The Jessica Zafra is coming to Pisay Western Visayas to give a hopefully long message (I don't really know what she's going to talk about. She's not friendly, for the least part; so perhaps she won't talk about struggling for the top spot and making your dreams come true because, honestly, with a mind like hers, she doesn't need to give much effort.) Despite the lack of any forecast, I AM BUMMED. I'm a big fan of her work, of her crude and effortless way of making people laugh through her utterly sarcastic jokes. She's one of the few authors whose daily routines you'd actually find...interesting.

I even remember my friend saying, "She's like Paris Hilton, you know...Only a hell lot smarter."

Paris Hilton. Yes, because Jessica Zafra is just smexy in her own cynical way.
