Talk about ignorance.
I was on my way home when I passed by a graffiti. Probably the perpetrators were high while spray-painting the concrete wall because all I saw was the word, "extasy"...which isn't a word even in the most updated dictionary.
I'm sparing myself the trouble of writing about spelling because I'd be a hypocrite if I said words should always be spelled correctly. The school held a spelling bee back in first year; and I, with my bad ear (the usual alibi), misheard "auxiliary" and spelled "obscillary" instead. I still pleasure myself in laughing my larynx off whenever I remember that. I must have a talent in deriving words somehow. Someday, "obscillary" will exist in the English dictionary...
I am writing this post for the future president of the Philippines who might happen to be one of my few (but very much appreciated) readers. Please invest more in education. Ecstasy is a common word especially to the disturbed youth (accounting for at least 15% of the population, and that's a big percentage already) who indulge in escapism via drugs (about half of that 15%. The rest are either prostitutes or wrist-slashers...) I don't see why it can actually be misspelled.
If the economy should rise, communication should rise before it. So yes: good spelling, good grammar.
