Before I officially write my entry, I'd like to thank my friends Ayanne, Roezel, Joop, Sri and Benedict for the company/food (although I was the one who tagged along) and the free pass (thank you Joop!) to Ely Buendia's mini-concert last night. And I thank them with as much sincerity as the amount of energy it normally takes me to finish five laps around the oval.
How do I describe last night? The word
phenomenal is too restrained. As a fan, I'm not as dedicated as my friends, but last night I felt as if I'd been listening to E-Head songs my whole life. Ely is such a charismatic a charismatic singer you just can't help but train your eyes on him and strain your ears to hear every note. Plus, the band was awesome. When Ely went onstage everyone was screaming and we (on the front row, beat that) were the first people to run off to him. I forgot what his first song was...but the finale, the classic
Ang Huling El Bimbo, had the audience captivated.

The stage before the performance: Epic umbrella. My friends and I were guessing how Ely would make his performance, and we decided on him walking on tightrope. |
 |
Before the actual performance, we were forced to watch our "ka-barkadas" gorge on Greenwich (the event sponsor) products as a part of the games. Our group last but screw that, we still got the pizza. |
 |
Ely wore Ray-ban glasses during the some of the songs. When he'd take them off, everyone would go crazy! |
 |
Wasak Waltz is Ely's latest single from his collab album with Francis M. |
 |
Ely taking a breather: Performing onstage can be as tiring as doing Research reports. |
After the mini-concert, people with VIP passes got to have their E-Heads collection signed by Ely himself (the manager was so nice). Being near him gives any normal kid goosebumps.
Frankly I'm still too caught up with the fact that we touched, talked and got wet with Ely and his bottle of water (crazy, yeah) to write a decent post so I'm going back to the confines of my subconscious and reflect on what happened last night. Good day to all.
