Tumblr is a Cave

First and foremost, I have no idea why I'm writing about this.

Secondly, I've had writer's block for almost an entire week. Typical, but it was getting kind of lonely.

As social life privileges are currently nowhere to be found, I've been dedicating a twenty-fourth of each of my days to Tumblr. I'm not Tumblr-famous, nor do I give any effort to create reblog-able posts. I'm just a leech-- all I do is reblog and, well, reblog other stuff I've already reblogged. It's a very amusing site. I can live off it for an entire year.
Let me introduce you to an icon in the Tumblr-verse (Tumblr Universe, I don't know how people call it), Me Gusta. A Reddit user going by the alias "Insert" claimed to have created Me Gusta in a thread last March 8, 2011. Me Gusta ("I like it" in Spanish) is used in responding to disturbing events or facts, or simply in expressing agreement to a certain thing.

Yes, I am very much aware that Me Gusta looks like a homeless pedophile. In Tumblr, users create comics about daily life humor most of us can relate to, like this:

This thought visited me earlier: If Tumblr were a cave, then it would have a lot of paintings. That's just me being hypothetically stupid, though.

Cave paintings have been a subject of interest to a lot of paleontologists and pathetic people like me. The oldest cave painting, found in France's Chauvet-Pont-d'Arc cave, dates back to the Aurignacian culture (approximately thirty-two thousand years ago, in Europe and southwest Asia). Some theories say that cave paintings were a form of communication, which I think was rather ineffective; still, other theories credit them as a way of worshiping livestock. I swear, humans back then were so unpredictable.

Red and yellow ochre, charcoal, hematite, and manganese oxide were the most commonly used materials in drawing cave art. Usually, early humans drew wild animals like bison and aurochs because they considered painting the human body, or parts thereof, as a taboo (and also because there was something really wrong with their cognitive abilities).

Now I'm imagining my Tumblr dashboard turning into rock strata.
