Mental

My first feat this month: I have survived five whole days outside the virtual world created by HTML, CSS and Javascript. Right now, I'm home (from Miag-ao, it takes about an hour to reach the city) and happier than ever to be within the vicinity of free and unlimited internet connection yet again. The university requires students to have their laptops registered in order to avail of the rights to social networking and other Worldwide Web benefits, including Nyan Cat. Aside from the extreme hassle of filling up a registration form and deciding which physical address is the MAC address of your laptop, it takes several days before you can actually use the wi-fi connection.

No wifi. That, and I also forgot to bring a mobile broadband plug-it. I really wanted to update everyday because a lot of things have been happening this week, even though there haven't been any formal classes yet. Nevertheless, I made a special effort to mentally note down what I'm looking forward to this school year:

1. Being the auditor of the Chemistry Society, which entitles me to the duty of guarding the door to tally other members' tardiness. This also helps me come early to meetings.

And auditing is quite fun... I guess.

2. Hinugyaw. Definitely worthy of a sleazy "Oh, yeah..." It's an inter-academic organization modelling competition, where each org showcases its members whom God once favored during the distribution of pretty genes. It looks like I'm going to have to take the first seat.

3. Comm 1, or Communication studies 1. I have a really cool (so to speak) professor who writes for Metro. The course requires us to read and write a lot. I can't, can't, can't wait.

4. Social Studies 10, Changing Asia. Our teacher promised us an Amazing Race sort of activity, and you know how much I love treasure hunts! I'm going to have to excavate the closet for my old Social Science notes. Also, we will still be writing essays and reviews, so I'm pretty excited.

5. My block mates. Most of them, or at least the ones I can distinguish from the rest of the group (memory, memory), are rather nice. I still have a lot to learn about them, though. We have an upcoming acquaintance party and I hope there won't be any booze. That would not fit the theme, Children's party... But I guess changes can be made at the last minute. (Cue in sinister laugh.)

I know this doesn't exactly make up for five days of involuntary absence, which is why I'm going to post another short (hopefully) by tomorrow. Oh, the life of a soul-searching college kid.

  4. Um, hello! No, thanks :-) I rather work behind the scene than in front of it. I'd really like to help out with the costumes and everything!
