Good Will Hunting

I've developed a penchant for "old" films over the summer (Dead Poets Society, The Breakfast Club) and I've just finished watching Good Will Hunting. The 1997 film follows the adolescence-to-maturity portion of Will Hunting's life. Will is an offensively (very) smart laborer from South Boston who works as a janitor at MIT. When an acclaimed professor named Lambeau posts a problem taken from the algebraic graph theory on a hallway board, Will solves it secretly. Lambeau is, of course, baffled (and possibly threatened but given his French ghetto-esque surname probably nothing scares him anymore) so he posts another problem. This time, he catches Will in a universally-accepted film technique of eerie coincidence so Gus van Sant could cut some runtime off and the producers could save money.

Would you believe this was written by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon? My respect for them just shot up from a previously nonexistent notch. I used to be scared of Matt Damon (reasons withheld) but now I think I could establish some sort of one-sided friendship with him.

I'm definitely not going to say, "I can relate to the movie" because aside from it being a tacky statement, I'm not as smart as Will. It hurts to admit that, HA HA HA, but I can say I've also had several instances of doubting where I am going with my life (still am, still am . . . ) Do you know that feeling of wanting to be everything? I'm in that phase right now. I want to try every profession (yes, that means I also want to try selling fastfood). There is so much we can do but we have to focus on one thing if we don't want to end up doing things halfway.

Minnie Driver plays Skylar, the love interest. She looks and acts like Spencer from PLL.
Ooh, fan girl moment.

Maybe I should go see a therapist, too. I want to have a magical Robin Williams moment. How exciting.
