She thought their marriage would work because once, he
told her about how he could see everything reflected in her eyes – that despite
being so dark, they were not empty. And everyone said they were “quite the pair,”
almost a testament of the workings of “destiny,” that their symmetry was miraculous.
And walking around under the sun trying to catch up to his restless saunter was
not so frustrating. And their silence was just silence. But mornings got harder
to wake up to, and one day, he told her, “I am tired,” and ever since then, dinner
always got cold.
