Pushing Purple

I have been away from the home-- and the net-- for the past three days (a miracle, perhaps?). There was a leadership seminar held at St. Paul University Iloilo (SPUI) and I, together with the other Pisay Student Alliance officers, were invited. Six resource speakers gave interesting talks and one of them, Ms. Kristin Marie Halago, focused on peace. That (and my untimely visit to deviantArt) reminded me what day it is today: Spirit Day, an annual event that honors teenagers who have passed away because of a practice that has been around in the social milieu. This practice is called bullying.

Promoting a Sony Ericsson Walkman phone? Hm.
I'm not going to preach. Sometimes I give my sister sermons and I usually end up talking for a long time. I know all of you have experienced some sort of abuse. It can be physical (most bullies resort to this. They think their victims' reactions are hilarious-- which is sometimes true, but since I'm trying to be nice here so I'll say otherwise.), verbal/emotional (like calling people fat. I, for one, am not fat *laugh* so even if others call me so I don't get pissy. If people call you names, find something for them too, and you can challenge yourselves to a mind duel. Revenge is sweet and so are jokes, but you might want to stick to the latter.) and psychological.

Mr. Angelo Sotira posted this video on deviantArt. It's about the site's celebration of Spirit Day and it offers a few pieces of advice to the bullied too.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
