Good Girl/Boy

Hello, reader. You must have heard about the storm that recently hit the Philippines, Sendong (or "Washi" as it is known internationally.) The affected areas are Palawan and other parts of the Visayas region, and Northern Mindanao.  It has killed 957 people and as of now, bodies are still being retrieved in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan.

Here I've compiled some information on how you can help out:

    RELIEF GOODS
  • LBC: I heard they'll ship things for free as long as you tell them they are for the Sendong victims.
  • TV5 Kapatid Foundation
  • Sagip Kapamilya
  • Civil Relations AFP
    MONETARY DONATIONS
  • via text:
    RED
    Send to 4143 for Smart or 2899 for Globe. The amount can be: 5, 25, 50, 100, 300, 500 or 1000.
  • Donate to RedCross

No more coins for the wishing well

Two days ago, our Economics teacher asked us to create a wishlist. He wanted to know how we envision the Philippines nineteen years from now, in 2030.

I have to admit my groupmates and I didn't take this one seriously; the only instruction we complied to is our teacher's unintended joke of drawing the poster (derived from our wishlist) like kindergartners. Check our wishlist out:

Food, Overused Larynges, And Where Ignorance Takes You

I have the most epic classmates.

One of them is Roselen and she lives in a place called Sta. Barbara, which celebrates its fiesta annually every fourth of  December. I haven't "attended" for the last two years because there were school matters to "worry" about and I suck, so you could just imagine how psyched I was to know December 4 is a Saturday (to hell with  exams, I needed a break).

So I awoke this morning with a slightly-less-than-bitter disposition, ate my fix of pancakes and got dressed up with the amount of gusto I exude when eating a plate of New York cheesecake. Let me start with part one of the adventure:

Stereotyping Chinoys

While I was reverting my focus from the exaggerated equatorial heat to drying my hair, I received a text message from a close friend inviting me to watch Veronica Velasco's most recent romance-comedy film, I Do.

Drool factor

I am an occasional fashion slave (BIG stress on the word occasional), so you could just imagine how excited I was when I saw a feature about Code-Limited, an online shop that sells original Filipino designer goodies for very reasonable prices, on MYX. Predictably I immediately went to to the site and browsed through the items for sale.

And, dang, they're not Korean fashion but they can beat the hell out of it. (Don't take it the wrong way, I love KFashion).

Come to think of it...

Filipinos are more European than Asian. It's not exactly a shocking revelation, since the Philippines had been under Spanish rule for more than three horrific centuries and that Espanya was the first to officially conquer the Philippine archipelago. I was muling about it last night, and came to enlisting 8 things that make Filipinos tilt to the Western side:
